Caught In The Storm
If you found yourself faced with being caught out at night in the middle of an unexpected storm with the rain coming down in torrents and the lightning exploding across the sky, obscuring you vision as the sound of thunder and pouring rain and the windshield wipers going back and forth make it nearly impossible to think – what would be the best thing for you to do? Would it help very much, at that moment, to attempt to figure out and understand where storm clouds come from? Would this be a good time to try to figure out what causes lightening? What good would any of that information do for you and your survival when you are in the middle of a storm? The best thing to do when you are in that kind of a situation is concentrate on holding the steering wheel steady, controlling the speed of your vehicle and keeping your eyes on the road ahead. In other words, focus on getting through the storm. You may indeed find yourself facing one of the raging storms of life; marital pressure, economic distress or a health crisis. I want to encourage you to focus on what is important to your victory…to your survival. Don’t be distracted by things that may be behind you, don’t allow negative thoughts to torment you with “why me?". Don’t stop trusting God! Keep a steady hand, a clear head, keep your eyes on God and follow the path that He puts before you. He promises to always get us through any storm in life…and never leave us alone. Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid for the LORD your God goes with you; He will never leave you nor forsake you." Deuteronomy 31:6-8
