Level playing field?

I’ve listened to our politicians talk about “leveling the playing field” in America. Their line of thought is to make it fair and equal for everyone. In their mind a level playing field is making sure that everyone has an equal part and therefore an equal footing. They think the solution is to take money from the rich and give it to the people who don’t have any money, thereby balancing out ownership and resources. I think the President called it, “spreading the wealth around”.

So how do they intend to level the playing field? The only solution for this seems to be to take from the “haves” and give to the “have not’s” through taxation and government takeover and ownership. They are really talking about opportunities for massive government expansion. Of course we are talking about taxing the rich and giving it to the poor. I heard one man boast that their party was the modern day Robin Hood. But Robin Hood didn’t take from the rich and give to the poor. He took from the crooked government who taxed them to death and gave it back to the people. He overthrew the government of his day. Capitalism and free enterprise is the “level playing field” While democracy is a self-imposed rule of law, that alone does not describe America. America is a democratic republic. The nature of a democratic republic is capitalism. That is where we see our entrepreneurial spirit in action. Capitalism promotes private ownership of property. It supports privately managed goods and services. You can have as much or as little as you want. Capitalism and free enterprise is the “level playing field” for the world. That is as fair as we can become to everyone. It gives everyone the opportunity to become anything that they want to become. The free enterprise system is what had drawn people from all parts of the world to this “Land of Opportunity”. They have washed up on our shores with only a few dollars and a heart full of hope. Soon they become entrepreneurs and business owners. They work hard and offer excellence in their craft. The system will work for anyone who will plug into it, even if they don’t belong here. Why? The system works. So the “Level Playing Field” idea is off base. It throws money at the problem not realizing that they are feeding the problem. Their GPS is broken. They are going the wrong direction. We need serious politicians who can’t be bought or sold. We need politicians who won’t pander to Hollywood and the liberal media for their approval. We need politicians who have the backbone to not be controlled by Washington’s political machine. Right now we don’t have that and I am concerned about the direction that it is taking us.
