Interview with Bishop Randy Clark

This doesn’t seem to be the finest hour for the church. We certainly have our moments but at the end of the day, where do we stand? We seemed to be divided culturally, denominationally and politically. What do you see for the future of the church and the nation?

My gut level feeling is that America is spiraling downward: spiritually, morally, and economically. The America that we have known has ceased to exist. As much as I want to say differently, it is not coming back.

Jesus Christ and the church are our only hope.

We desperately need a spiritual and cultural awakening - a sweeping move of God that touches every community and every element of society. It may not return us to our former glory as a nation, but it will preserve our way of life for future generations and insure that they will have the privilege of knowing Jesus and living in a country that is predominantly Christian.

The bedrock of our faith is 2 Chronicles 7:14: “if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land.” NIV

Notice that this divine promise hinges on the people of God - not our politicians, our educators, our judges, or anyone else. The church and only the church can trigger a national awakening and alter the direction and course of America.

The question is will the church awaken first? Will we finally put away our debates on church doctrine and tradition and come to the realization that it is “us against the world” not each other? Has the church become drunk with prosperity, hypnotized by security and desensitized to sin and unrighteousness? Is it already too late for the church as well as America? With everything in me, I pray not!

God is calling the church to humble herself, to repent of carnality and sin, and to urgently seek Him for an unprecedented outpouring of the Holy Spirit. Millions of Christians are responding to the call. It is a grassroots movement back to the Word of God and the House of God. Hope, birthed in prayer and founded on the promise of God, has taken root, and it sprouting up everywhere!

I sincerely believe that we are about to see a history making move of God that will change the face of the nation. That is what I am living for.
